Creating Pages Weeks 4, 5, and 6

I've been super busy the last few weeks, so I hadn't had a chance to post links to my layouts for the 8 week series contest at Creating Pages. So here you go:
Week 4 - Use an arrow on your layout. http://www.creating-pages.biz/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=3274&cat=634
Week 5 - Use a quote that was given to us. http://www.creating-pages.biz/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=3298&cat=635
Week 6 - Use American Crafts product. http://www.creating-pages.biz/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=3336&cat=636

Two more weeks and the contest is over. I have been having fun, and have done a few things out of my comfort zone. Can't wait to see what next week's challenge will be.

I have been asked quite a few times what camera do I use. So I thought I would do a quick post about it.
I use a Canon PowerShot G6 digital camera. It is a7.1 Mega Pixels camera. I take all my photos on the highest resolution I can. My only complaint with it, is that sometimes it doesn't focus on what I want it to.

So my next camera is going to be the Canon Digital Rebel. Not sure when that will be, but I have a camera fund started with about $100 in it right now. I just keep adding my change and extra dollars to it when I can. Now if I would just stop going to the scrapbook store and use what I have, I would probably be able to buy it by Christmas. LOL

A great site to check out Camera reviews is http://www.steves-digicams.com/hardware_reviews.html . Every digital camera our family has bought, we have bought based on the reviews here.

We currently own 3 Canon cameras; my G6, my husband has the S50, and my daughter has the A520. The all take wonderful photos.

Family Reunion

This is a view from the deck of the cabin where we were at. This is Lake Billy Chinook in Eastern Oregon, the lake is a lot larger than this. It has 3 sections and is huge. The mountain is Mount Hood.

Same view as above, but this was a gorgeous sunset the first night we were there. Everything had a rosy pink tinge to it, absolutely beautiful.

This is down at the lake, Mike's Uncle has boats for everyone to use. This is most of the teenagers that were there, soaking up the sun and swimming. A few adults too. The water did feel good, it was very hot and the resort is off the grid, so no A/C all weekend. I even went moonlight swimming one night to cool off.

Heather and her favorite second cousin. They really enjoyed seeing each other, it had been 2 years since the last family reunion.
We had a great time visiting with everyone. We found out that another branch of family will be having a reunion in Portland the same weekend we will be there, so we will be going to that one also. Should be fun.

This month has been extremely busy. We still have a retirement party to go to on Friday, and somehow I "volunteered" to take pictures. Then on Monday, we will be going to Britt (a local concert series) and seeing Carrie Underwood. We have free tickets for all three of us. Really looking forward to that.

Looks like August is going to be just as busy. We will be on vacation and then 2 weeks later a camping trip with our Mustang Club. And somewhere in there our neighbor's daughter is getting married. WHEW! I'm already tired just typing it all. LOL

Stay tuned for more summer pictures!

Chelsea's Blog Challenge from Create My Keepsake

1. Tell Me Why your blog is named what it is. I was playing around with titles, and came up with this one. Did an unscientific survey and most everyone liked it. I figure that my scrapbooks are being done "One Page at a Time"

2. Tell me one person you admire as a scrapper/artist and why. My scrappy friend Tanya. I just love her style, and she is also a very sweet and caring person. Here's a link to her blog. http://princess-tanya-is-in.blogspot.com/

3. What is one thing you've never tried on a layout or project that you'd like to try? Haven't tried using directional embellishments, I am going to be trying this sometime this week. I have a contest that I'm doing that we need to use arrows on the layout.

4. What is your favorite time of year to scrap and why? I don't have a favorite time, I like to scrap any time.

5. List 2 other people's scrappy blogs that you enjoy reading and post a link to them!! My scrappy friend Cami http://ndmomblessedbythesweetestlilgirleva.blogspot.com/ Another scrappy friend, Dawn http://dawnslifeandscrapblog.blogspot.com/ I have about 15 blogs that I visit on a weekly basis. So it is hard to narrow it down to only 2.

Here is a layout I did for a faithbooking challenge at From Here 2 Scrapternity. The challenge was to use song lyrics that have meaning to you. The first time I heard this song, I fell in love with it. The message in it is great, it always makes me stop and think every time I hear it.

Here are the lyrics to the song, since it is hard to read on my layout.

I Can Only Imagine – Mercy Me

I can only imagine
What it will be like
When I walk By Your side
I can only imagine
What my eyes will see
When Your face Is before me
I can only imagine

Surrounded by Your glory,
what will my heart feel
Will I dance for You Jesus
or in awe of You be still
Will I stand in Your presence
or to my knees will I fall
Will I sing hallelujah,
will I be able to speak at all
I can only imagine
I can only imagine

When that day comes
And I find myself Standing in the Son
I can only imagine
When all I will do Is forever
Forever worship You
I can only imagine

Here is another project I did this weekend. I found the wooden saying at Michael's for $1.00. I just cut out the Basic Grey paper and voila! A cute saying for my kitchen.

Christmas in July

Saturday I spent most of the day working on class projects from a cyber crop at Create My Keepsake. I had a great time. There were 7 projects and I completed them all. I will be making more of these projects. They were fun and pretty easy too. Great gift ideas. Below are all my projects for the day. Oh and there will be drawings for prizes at the end of the day. How great is that, complete some fun projects and maybe win a prize. Thanks Rebecca and all the designers at CMK for such a fun day!!!!

Get Poppin: A quick and easy snack or small gift box.

Light up the Holidays: A glass jar candle with a rub on and some ribbon. From plain to elegant in minutes. Great gift idea!

Ornament Extravaganza: Ornament frames that I made from chipboard. These will be small gifts for the grandparents, and one for my tree.

Spell it Out: Altered letters that I purchased at Michaels. This is my favorite project of the day. I love how it turned out. Now I want to alter more letters! I have been intimidated by this type of project. Now I feel much more confident. Can't wait to try altering other stuff using this technique.

Christmas Cookies: An old butter cookie tin that is altered into a new and fun cookie tin to fill for Christmas. This is a great way to make a personalized gift that looks great and doesn't cost you a fortune. This will make a great gift for my co-workers.

Well, since I can't get this picture to load, click here to see it at CMK.
Box it Up: I found the pattern for this gable box online. I like how it turned out. This will be perfect for little gifts.

You've been Tagged: Just a quick tag. It turned out nothing like the example. I have a hard time with tags. Need to work on making them more interesting.

New Glasses

I took Heather to get her eyes checked last week, and they said she needed glasses for seeing things in the distance. (Contacts won't correct her vision as well as the glasses, so they weren't an option.) We went yesterday to pick them up.

I think she looks really cute and more grown up in them. She isn't too sure about them yet. Like a true scrapbooker I had to take pictures of her in the new glasses right away. Below are a couple of them.

Layouts

A couple of layouts I did recently. The first one is my daughter (she is on the left) and her friend this year, and the second one is my daughter at age 4. It is fun to do some of her older pictures, at least she always smiled then. Now it is hard to get a smile out of her.

Click here to see my layout for week 2 of Creating Pages Summer Series. This week's challenge was "lumpy and bumpy".

Super Star Summer Series at Creating Pages

Creating Pages is having an 8 week contest that started this week. Each week we are assigned a theme for our layouts. This week it was to use some "Bling".

I have never done this really, so I wasn't too sure how it was going to turn out. But once I got going I had a lot of fun. I really like the way my layout turned out. Click here to see my layout.

I even was inspired to try doodling on it. Thanks to Kimberly who inspired me, she is the queen of doodling. Check out her blog, she has some amazing layouts on it.

Some more camping pictures

Here are a few more from Crater Lake.
I found a flat rock and set the camera on timer to get this one of the two of us. Usually I have pictures of my husband and he gets pictures of me, but seldom do we have one of us together!

This is our trailer and truck at our campsite. Without this I wouldn't enjoy camping near as much. I enjoy not having to sleep on the ground and being able to take a shower in the morning.

The Rogue River, this runs right through the campground. Mike went fishing on Friday night and caught 2 trout for our dinner on Saturday.

On the way home we stopped at a state park closer to home to dump our trailer tanks (thank goodness my hubby takes care of all this). So I got out and wandered away and saw these 2 deer, luckily I had my camera handy and was able to get a quick picture of them. They didn't stick around long.

We had a great camping trip. Ate too much junk food, and hiked till I thought I was going to die from the heat, but it was fun!!! So until next time, I'll just have to enjoy my pictures.

Crater Lake

We had a great time camping. On Saturday we decided to make a quick trip to Crater Lake National Park. Here's a link to the park, if you are ever in Oregon it is a must see!!

This is a panoramic of the whole lake. I took 6 pictures and then stitched them together to get this photo.

Okay I was trying to load more and blogger is being a pain. So I'll add more tommorrow.

Camping Alone?

My husband and I are going camping this weekend for the first time in 17 years by ourselves. Our daughter is going camping with a friend and her family, so we thought why don't we go by ourselves.

I guess this is God's way of preparing us for when she moves out and it is always just the two of us. We started this process last year when she got a job. It was really difficult the first few weeks at dinner time. We have always made a point of eating dinner together, so to have her missing felt like there was a hole in the house. But we got used to that. I'm sure this will be the same way.

Thank goodness that my husband and I truly enjoy each other. I have heard of people not having anything to talk about once there children are grown. We will not have that problem, we always have something to discuss, even if we disagree about the answer. We also both have our own hobbies that we love. Mine of course is scrapbooking and photography, and he loves woodworking and restoring cars.

(On a side note: My daughter growing up is fun to watch, but boy do I worry! We just had a tragic car accident here locally involving three 18 year old boys that had just graduated. The boy who was driving the car was going too fast on a country road and lost control, none of the boys survived. My prayers and sympathy go out to their families. I can't even begin to imagine what they are going through. My daughter always gives me a funny look when I tell her drive safe and the speed limit every time she leaves the house, but I will continue to do this as long as I live. I want her to grow old and have a wonderful life.) Sorry about this depressing subject, but it has been weighing on my mind for the last few days.

My newest find at the Flea Market

Sunday we were at a flea market. I saw this chair at one of the first booths that we went to. I thought it was really cute, but wasn't sure if I really wanted it. So I told my husband that if it was still there when we had seen everything I would buy it. After an hour of wandering around it was still there. Twenty dollars later and I am now the owner of an old artists chair.

I think I will strip the old paint off and repaint it with milk paint. For now it is sitting at the end of the couch. We are going to be using it for a coffee table for the moment.

Medford Cruise 2006

Father's Day Weekend is the annual Medford Cruise and Car Show. This year the weather was gorgeous. The sun shone, but it wasn't scorching hot. Here are some pictures of a few of the cars in the show and some cruise pictures.

Our Mustang Club's cars in the show. Ours is the orange convertible with the hood up.

This is my husband driving our car out of the show.

This is the cutest car. It is a BMW, it only has 3 wheels. Too much fun!!

Cars cruising the streets of Medford.

We gave friends rides during the cruise. This is the daughter and granddaughter of one of our club members. She was enthralled with the people on the sidewalks watching the cars. She really liked the "topless" car! LOL

Father's Day and Family

This is an older layout of my husband, but I thought in honor of Father's Day I would post it again. I really like how this turned out, and the best part was when I showed it to my husband, he just beamed.

This is a picture of my Mom and Dad and both sets of my grandparents. It was taken sometime in the 1950's, not sure of the exact time.

Finally I did it!!!

One of my goals for this summer was to apply for the CMK Design Team. So last night I finally got up the nerve to do it.

Here are the layouts and the altered item I submitted.

I had a hard time deciding what to enter. Not that I think I have a chance! But you will never have a chance if you never try. So try I did. So now it is just a waiting game. I am going to try and forget about it.

I have to Confess...

My husband is the gardner in our family.

All the gorgeous flowers in our yard are my husband's work. I have a black thumb. I can kill a plant almost as fast as I can plant it.

So my contribution to our flowers is helping to pick them out, and taking pictures of them. They are all so pretty, I just can't stop taking pictures. I went out to take a few Sunday and took 33!

This is one of our new roses we planted last year. It is beautiful and has a great smell. It is called Honey Perfume, I think a very fitting name for it.

Flowers

Some of the flowers in my yard this year. This was a fun layout. I wasn't sure about the collage look, but I think it really works. This was for a challenge at From Here 2 Scrapternity, this has become one of my new faves to visit.

SuperMom Layout

This was a challenge on Scrap101. Do a layout about Superheroes. Since I didn't have any pictures to fit the challenge, I went a different route. I decided to do a layout about what sort of super abilities that a SuperMom might have.
