Camping Alone?

My husband and I are going camping this weekend for the first time in 17 years by ourselves. Our daughter is going camping with a friend and her family, so we thought why don't we go by ourselves.

I guess this is God's way of preparing us for when she moves out and it is always just the two of us. We started this process last year when she got a job. It was really difficult the first few weeks at dinner time. We have always made a point of eating dinner together, so to have her missing felt like there was a hole in the house. But we got used to that. I'm sure this will be the same way.

Thank goodness that my husband and I truly enjoy each other. I have heard of people not having anything to talk about once there children are grown. We will not have that problem, we always have something to discuss, even if we disagree about the answer. We also both have our own hobbies that we love. Mine of course is scrapbooking and photography, and he loves woodworking and restoring cars.

(On a side note: My daughter growing up is fun to watch, but boy do I worry! We just had a tragic car accident here locally involving three 18 year old boys that had just graduated. The boy who was driving the car was going too fast on a country road and lost control, none of the boys survived. My prayers and sympathy go out to their families. I can't even begin to imagine what they are going through. My daughter always gives me a funny look when I tell her drive safe and the speed limit every time she leaves the house, but I will continue to do this as long as I live. I want her to grow old and have a wonderful life.) Sorry about this depressing subject, but it has been weighing on my mind for the last few days.

I can't imagine getting used to life without your child there all the time. Clayton is only two and I already dread him growing up!

I read about the 3 young men that died in the accident. I immediately thought of Heather. I remember you telling her drive safe the other night when she left home while we was visiting.

oh, they grow up too fast! That's a horrible accident. Something similar happened to some students while I was in high school. It's so hard to lose friends when you are young. I can't even imagine losing my son!
